Food and You Program Information

Group and Session Length:
Food and You is a structured 12-week group that meets once a week for 75 minutes. Group sessions are ongoing throughout the year. Each group session meets on Wednesday from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm.

Attendance:
All registered members are expected to make a 12-week commitment to the Food and You group. Consistent attendance is necessary to achieve the desired results.

Missed Sessions:
If you will be missing a group session of Food and You, call Dr. Spector's office at 650.208.6996 at least 24 hours in advance. Sessions that are missed without a 24-hour advance notice will be billed at the regular session rate.

Discontinuing the Group:
Provide the group with at least a 2-session advance notice if you will no longer be participating in the Food and You group. This is necessary for other members to adjust to the changes in the group.

Fees and Payment:
A fee of $65.00 is due at the end of each Food and You session. Payments can be made in cash or in checks to the order of Dr. E. Spector.

Confidentiality:
The confidentiality of communication between a client and a psychotherapist is protected by state law and by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA). Any information regarding psychotherapy is strictly confidential, as is required by law. In order for oral, written or electronic information to be released to any other professional or agency the document “Consent for Release of Information” must be signed by a client.

HIPPA allows exceptions for when information can be released without client’s permission.These exceptions are when:
  • A person is to a danger to himself/herself or others
  • There is suspected abuse or neglect of an elder, dependent-adult, or child
  • The psychologist is ordered by a court to release information
